Role Title: Temporary Agency Learning Support Assistant
Location: South East London
Hours per Week: 32.5 hours (6.5 hours per day), Monday to Friday
Contract End Date: 03 July 2026
Lunch Breaks: Unpaid – candidates must not include lunch breaks on weekly timesheets.
DBS Requirement: Enhanced Child & Adult DBS (must be in place prior to start)
Role Overview
We are seeking a committed and adaptable Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to join our team on a temporary agency basis. The successful candidate will provide high‑quality support to learners with a range of needs, enabling their access to learning and promoting positive engagement within the classroom and wider college environment.
This role is particularly suited to individuals with strong behaviour‑management skills and prior experience supporting learners who may present challenging behaviour.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide one‑to‑one and small‑group learning support to students with additional needs.
- Assist teaching staff in the delivery of learning activities and the maintenance of an inclusive classroom environment.
- Implement appropriate behaviour‑management strategies and de‑escalation techniques.
- Support learners in developing independence, confidence, and positive social skills.
- Adapt resources or approaches to meet the specific needs of individual learners.
- Encourage learner participation and engagement in class activities.
- Promote safeguarding, wellbeing, and the safety of all students in line with college policies.
- Maintain accurate and confidential records as required.
- Communicate effectively with teaching staff, support teams, and other professionals regarding learner progress and concerns.
Essential Requirements
- Proven experience working with students who exhibit challenging behaviour.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to build positive, supportive relationships with learners.
- Good understanding of safeguarding and child protection.
- Enhanced Child & Adult DBS (required prior to start).
- Reliability, professionalism, and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
Desirable Skills & Experience
- Experience within a further education or secondary education environment.
- Training in behaviour management, de‑escalation, or SEND support.
- Knowledge of EHCPs and learner‑support planning.

- Working Pattern: Monday to Friday, 6.5 hours per day
